The “Work from Home” Feature on Google for Jobs

The ability to label job postings as remote work
In response to the question of whether it’s possible to search directly for remote work positions and how these can be clearly identified, Google for Jobs provided a simple answer. A year ago, Google for Jobs released a new feature that allows job postings to explicitly indicate that the position is remote. As a result, the location changes to “Anywhere.” This offers the advantage that job seekers can now apply for positions nationwide without having to relocate. It also benefits companies by likely attracting more applicants to their job postings. Furthermore, it expands the job market during the pandemic without increasing the risk of infection.
Of course, it was already possible to post remote work positions before, but the new feature provides a clear overview and a distinct distinction between remote work and on-site work. In addition, applicants can now select “Remote Work” in the “Location” filter, which greatly simplifies the search for jobs that can be done from home.
Major job boards, such as Stepstone, Xing, and Indeed, also offer numerous remote work positions. However, if you search for these on Google for Jobs, you’ll find hardly any jobs marked with the “remote work” feature.
Note: If you post your job listings on Stepstone, Xing, or Indeed and want them to appear as remote work opportunities on Google for Jobs, you should also publish your listings directly on Google for Jobs.
