Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure favorable conditions. Place purchase orders and manage their lifecycle to ensure on-time delivery. Collaborate with production and planning teams to optimize inventory levels and prevent stockouts. Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and value analysis. Monitor supplier performance, manage relationships, and address non-conformances. Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and supply chain risks to inform purchasing decisions. Recommended Qualifications 3-5 years of direct purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor) for procurement Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and quality standards Understanding of supply chain principles and inventory optimization techniques Bonus Qualifications Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
