The Opportunity We are collaborating with multiple companies in Portage seeking experienced Buyers. Key Responsibilities Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, components, and MRO items. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions. Place and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery to support production schedules. Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with production to optimize stock and prevent shortages or overages. Identify and implement cost reduction strategies without compromising quality or supply. Resolve issues related to supplier performance, material quality, and delivery discrepancies. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal departments. Recommended Qualifications 3+ years of direct purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for purchasing and inventory management. Proven negotiation skills and experience in supplier relationship management. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and Bills of Material (BOMs). Demonstrated ability to identify and implement cost reduction strategies.
