The Opportunity We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Grand Rapids that are seeking skilled CNC Machinists. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machinery (mills, lathes, etc.) according to job specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code to determine machining operations. Load and unload raw materials and finished parts onto machines. Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and ensure product quality. Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges). Adjust machine offsets and parameters to maintain part tolerances and optimize performance. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC equipment. Recommended Qualifications 3-5 years of experience operating multi-axis CNC mills and/or lathes. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges. Basic knowledge of G-code and M-code for program editing, offsets, and troubleshooting. Ability to perform machine setups, tool changes, and first-piece inspections. Bonus Qualifications Experience with CAD software for fixture design or part modification. Proficiency in operating CMMs or other advanced metrology equipment. Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills. Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to program and set up multiple types of CNC machines (e.g., mills and lathes).
