This position offers an exciting opportunity to ensure that residential and commercial development aligns with modern building standards while embracing innovation and growth.

What You’ll Do:

• Review construction plans and building applications for both residential and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with current zoning laws, codes, and ordinances.

• Collaborate with builders, developers, and property owners to support safe construction practices.

What You Bring:

We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about fostering safe environments through cutting-edge inspection processes. Depending on your level of experience (I-II-III), qualifications include:

Building Inspector I:

• A valid Kansas driver’s license.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• At least 2 years’ experience in construction trades or inspections; familiarity with plan review is a plus.

• General understanding of building regulations and fire safety codes.

• Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) or similar organization preferred but not required.

Building Inspector II/III:

• A valid Kansas driver’s license.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Either a bachelor’s degree in Construction Science OR at least 3 years’ professional experience in construction trades/inspections with an emphasis on plan reading/interpreting codes.

• Knowledgeable about advanced building standards & fire safety protocols.
  – Certification(s) from ICC or comparable institutions highly valued; journeyman/master-level expertise required.

• · One (1) certification by International Code Council (ICC) or similar certification such as a building, plumbing, mechanical or electrical inspector.
  · Combination commercial inspector certification through ICC. (May be obtained in the first six (6) months of employment when approved by the Building Official).
  · Master plumbing, mechanical or electrical license based on certification through ICC. (May be obtained in the first six (6) months of employment when approved by the Building Official).
