Recreation Leader | Salina
City of Salina, Kansas
Parks & Recreation / Salina Fieldhouse
Hey, you! Yes, you. Are you ready to sprinkle a little fun and excitement into our community? If you're nodding your head (or just mildly curious), keep reading—we might have the perfect gig for you. Apply now at jobs.salina-ks.gov!
We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic, organized go-getter to join our Parks & Rec crew as a Recreation Leader. This isn’t your average desk job—it’s all about creating memorable experiences that bring people together. From youth sports leagues to adult fitness classes and beyond, you'll be the one making sure everything runs like a well-oiled machine (or at least close enough). Oh—and heads up: recreation doesn’t clock out at 5 PM, so flexible hours are part of the deal—weekends and holidays included! But hey, who needs a regular Saturday when you're building epic community vibes?
In this role, you'll not only help make events awesome but also team up with some seriously cool coworkers who geek out over bringing joy to others just as much as you do. If multitasking is your superpower and event organizing sounds like your jam, we’d love for you to join us in making Salina even more amazing.
What You’ll Be Up To:
Dreaming up and leading year-round programs—think youth/adult sports leagues, clinics, special events—the works!
Channeling your inner marketing guru by spreading the word about these activities (preferably with more finesse than Aunt Carol’s email chains).
Rolling up your sleeves when needed—teaching classes or running group activities like a pro.
Collaborating with our Parks & Rec superheroes on other sports programs (translation: there’s always something cool happening here).
What We’re Looking For:
Education Stuff:
High school diploma or G.E.D.? Awesome—you’re halfway there already! Got extra brownie points from coursework in recreation management or an associate's degree? Even better! Bonus round if you've got—or can snag—a Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification down the road.
Experience Vibes:
If you've ever run recreational programs before—or organized sports leagues—we're already impressed. Have experience managing part-time staff? Extra gold stars for that one! And if you're fluent in scheduling systems like CivicRec or RecTrac plus know Microsoft Office better than most people know their Netflix queue…well then…let’s talk MVP status.
Must-Haves That Aren't Negotiable:
You’ll need a valid Kansas driver’s license because zipping around town might just come with the territory.
Let’s Talk Cash:
We value talent—and it shows in our pay scale ($17.39-$18.26/hour depending on what skills/experience you're bringing to the table). Annual salary range? Around $36K-$38K-ish—but wait for it... Work after 6 PM and score an extra $1.50/hour because evenings deserve bonus love too!
P.S.: We're all about inclusivity here—so no matter who you are or where you're from—you’ve got a spot waiting for ya on Team Salina.
So what do ya say? Ready to embrace this adventure of creating unforgettable moments while keeping things running smoother than butter on warm toast? Head over to jobs.salina-ks.gov right now—we can’t wait to meet YOU (yes...you)!
