Materials Estimator Position

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Materials Estimator to join our dynamic drafting department and adapt core material inventories in response to client modifications.

Supervisor: Manager of Drafting Department

Responsibilities:
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to develop and refine materials lists across all Ball Homes regions, tailoring them according to house type, elevation, and customer preferences for standard features or bespoke alterations. These lists encompass timber, glazing elements, entry systems, cabinetry, along with a diverse array of construction resources.
- Engage consistently with timber vendors primarily through electronic communication channels.
- Liaise with on-site construction managers to resolve material surplus or deficit issues effectively.
- Generate and update various Excel records connected to constructor incentive schemes.
- Conduct thorough reviews of colleagues’ materials lists for precision assurance.
- Compile essential building documentation packages for site teams. Packages include blueprints, formal documents, signage assortment, along with additional necessary items for construction execution.
- Initiate materials lists corresponding to newly designed architectural plans. Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings is crucial.
- Update the core materials list reflecting field feedback (material excesses/shortages) or master plan revisions.
- Occasionally visit construction sites to confirm the accuracy of materials lists during project progression.

Qualifications/Skills:
- Exceptional communicative abilities both orally and written form
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Mastery in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent applications
- Ability to thrive within a collaborative environment
- At least three years' direct experience in lumber estimation
-Requisite comprehensive understanding of home building processes

Physical Demands:
- Extended periods seated at a workstation operating a computer
- Capable of lifting weights up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Preparedness for conducting site inspections under various climatic conditions; capable of navigating irregular terrain; adept at stair climbing
