Principal VMware Consultant

About the Role We are seeking a Senior VMware Architect to lead strategy, architecture, and delivery across private, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments. This role blends deep hands‑on VMware expertise with consulting leadership — shaping platform strategy, designing enterprise‑grade architectures, and guiding teams through complex transformations. You will work across vSphere/ESXi, vSAN, NSX‑T, Aria/vRealize, SRM, HCX, VMware Cloud on AWS/Azure/GCP, and Tanzu/Kubernetes. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable advising executives, producing HLD/LLD documentation, and leading technical delivery from discovery through steady state. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Advisory Lead assessment workshops to baseline current‑state infrastructure, operations, cost, and risk Define target‑state SDDC and hybrid cloud strategy Build business cases (TCO/ROI), migration waves, and investment plans Present recommendations to senior leadership and architecture review boards Establish governance, landing zones, guardrails, and operating models Architecture & Design Develop high‑level and low‑level designs (HLD/LLD) Create capacity, resilience, and DR models (HA, RPO/RTO) Define security reference architectures (micro‑segmentation, zero‑trust) Architect hybrid cloud and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) solutions Delivery Leadership Lead discovery, POCs, pilots, and phased migrations Direct cross‑functional teams (network, security, storage, DevOps) Coach engineers on best practices and automation Establish IaC patterns using PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible Operations, Reliability & Security Define SRE/operational runbooks, monitoring, observability, and lifecycle management Implement DR/BCP using SRM and backup integrations Drive cost optimization and license posture management Partner with security, audit, and compliance teams Stakeholder Engagement & Pre‑Sales Translate technical decisions into business outcomes Produce C‑level decks, design packs, and decision logs Support RFP/RFI responses, sizing, and solution estimation Required Technical Skills vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, vSAN NSX‑T Aria/vRealize Suite SRM, HCX Tanzu/Kubernetes Hybrid cloud (on‑prem + VMware Cloud on AWS/Azure/GCP) Network overlays, egress controls, cost‑aware architectures VMware ESXi & vCenter (8/9) VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) VMware Lifecycle Manager Preferred Qualifications VMware certifications: VCP‑DCV, VCAP, VCF Specialist Experience with PowerCLI (required), Terraform/Ansible/Python (nice‑to‑have) Proven ability to produce HLD/LLD, migration plans, and executive presentations Soft Skills Strong communication and executive‑facing presence Ability to work in 24/7 critical environments Analytical, structured problem‑solving mindset Team collaboration and documentation discipline
