Senior VAT Accountant

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with management on technical VAT matters, including supporting the development and refinement of internal processes Supervise and review VAT compliance work prepared by junior team members across a varied client portfolio Manage complex VAT issues such as advisory engagements, cross-border considerations, industry-specific treatments, and interpretation of legislative updates Review VAT returns, recapitulative statements, and other related filings Support clients with VAT registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing compliance obligations Communicate with tax authorities regarding compliance matters, audits, inquiries, and investigations Participate in client meetings to discuss VAT positions, compliance requirements, and provide expert guidance Candidate Profile: Fully qualified accountant At least two years of hands-on experience in VAT or indirect tax Holds a recognized professional qualification in taxation Strong understanding of VAT regulations, particularly within Maltese and EU frameworks Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Excellent command of written and spoken English The role offers structured on-the-job training, strong opportunities for career advancement, and continuous professional development, along with a competitive salary and benefits package aligned with experience and qualifications.
