Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the tool room, ensuring efficient management of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Manage tool inventory, including receiving, issuing, tracking, and reordering of tooling. Supervise and train tool room personnel, assigning tasks and monitoring performance. Implement and enforce maintenance schedules for all tooling to ensure optimal condition and longevity. Maintain accurate records of tool usage, repairs, and calibration. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure tooling meets specifications and production needs. Implement and adhere to safety procedures and regulations within the tool room environment. Manage the procurement process for new tooling and spare parts, working with vendors and suppliers. Recommended Qualifications Journeyman Tool & Die Maker certification or equivalent progressive experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a machine shop or tool room environment. Proficient in operating manual and CNC machine tools, including mills, lathes, and surface grinders. Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T. Experience with workflow scheduling, project management, and tool inventory control systems. In-depth knowledge of tool steel properties, heat treating processes, and precision metrology. Bonus Qualifications Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S and Kaizen. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam) for print interpretation. Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or ERP software. Formal training or certification in project management.
