Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and document laser welding processes and parameters for various materials and applications. Troubleshoot and resolve complex laser welding equipment and process issues on the production floor. Design, implement, and maintain tooling and fixtures for laser welding operations. Conduct metrology and quality control inspections of laser welded components, analyzing defects and root causes. Collaborate with R&D and design teams to ensure manufacturability and optimize product designs for laser welding. Manage and perform routine maintenance, calibration, and repair of laser welding systems. Establish and enforce laser safety protocols and procedures in the manufacturing environment. Recommended Qualifications In-depth expertise in laser welding principles, metallurgy, and various laser technologies (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG). Hands-on experience with industrial laser welding equipment, including programming, operation, and integration with automation/robotics. Proven ability to develop, optimize, and validate laser welding parameters for different materials and applications. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting weld defects and process issues. Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Bonus Qualifications Experience with robotic programming (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka) or PLC integration. Proficiency in advanced metallurgical characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, EDS). Familiarity with CAD software for fixture design or laser process simulation. Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Python).
