Key Responsibilities Design, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures from raw materials. Operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs. Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications. Perform precise measurements using a variety of inspection tools to ensure adherence to tight tolerances. Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on existing tooling to minimize production downtime. Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool performance and manufacturing processes. Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool longevity and performance. Recommended Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Tool Maker or in a similar precision machining role. Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs). Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators). Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Knowledge of various tooling materials, heat treatment processes, and their applications. Bonus Qualifications Proficiency with advanced CAD/CAM software for tool design and CNC programming. Experience operating and programming EDM or Wire EDM machines. Strong understanding of GD&T principles and CMM operation for precision inspection. Knowledge of specialized tool steels, heat treatments, and surface coatings.
