The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Caledonia seeking Design Engineers who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities Develop and refine product designs, components, and assemblies using CAD software. Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs). Conduct design analysis, simulations, and prototyping to validate concepts and performance. Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFA). Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for optimal cost, performance, and reliability. Investigate and resolve design-related issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Recommended Qualifications Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for 3D modeling and drafting. Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering principles, material science, and design for manufacturability (DFM). Experience with various manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, casting, or fabrication. Ability to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles for component design and analysis. Proven problem-solving skills with an analytical approach to design challenges and optimization. Bonus Qualifications Experience with advanced simulation software (FEA, CFD). Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, or assembly. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies. Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
