This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates of trade or technical programs such as electrical technology, HVAC/R, industrial maintenance, or similar disciplines who are looking to launch a hands-on technical career with strong long-term growth potential. In this role, the technician will work alongside experienced commissioning engineers and project managers to test, verify, and document building system performance to ensure systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and safety standards. This position offers extensive on-the-job training and exposure to advanced building systems including electrical distribution, HVAC systems, and building automation controls. Key Responsibilities Assist with functional testing of mechanical, electrical, and control systems during commissioning activities Support development and completion of commissioning documentation including checklists, test procedures, and reports Conduct field observations and participate in site walkthroughs Collect system performance data and verify proper equipment installation and operation Assist with troubleshooting basic equipment or system performance issues under supervision Maintain accurate and organized field testing records and documentation Communicate testing results and observations to senior commissioning staff and project leadership Follow established safety procedures and best practices while working on active construction or operational sites Required Qualifications Completion of a trade school or technical program in one of the following or a related field: Electrical Technology HVAC/R Industrial Maintenance Mechatronics Building or Construction Technology Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude Willingness to work in field environments and travel to project sites as needed Basic familiarity with tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment Strong attention to detail and ability to document work accurately Effective communication and teamwork skills Valid drivers license Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or PLC-based control systems Internship, co-op, or lab experience working with mechanical or electrical systems Basic ability to read construction drawings, wiring diagrams, or equipment documentation What This Role Offers Hands-on training and mentorship from experienced commissioning professionals A clear career pathway into roles such as Commissioning Technician II, Controls Technician, or Commissioning Engineer Competitive compensation and benefits package Opportunities to travel and work on diverse technical projects A collaborative environment that encourages professional development and technical growth Ideal Candidate Profile Individuals who thrive in this role typically enjoy hands-on technical work, problem solving, and understanding how complex systems operate .
