Linux Systems Engineer~ Chesapeake, VA TS/SCI with CI or Full Scope Poly Job Title: Linux Systems Engineer Location: Chesapeake, VA Job Type: Full-time Experience Level: Mid to Senior Level Security Clearance: Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Required with Polygraph Linux System Engineer – ($140,000 Range relative to experience) Our client is seeking a Linux System Engineer to be part of an IT team in an agile, hyper-converged Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment. They will develop and implement cybersecurity-compliant new capabilities in addition to enhancing legacy products and systems. They will draft, develop, and document IT engineering efforts for new and existing capabilities. They will act as Tier III operations and sustainment. They will work with various technologies to execute development, prototypes, and production tests as needed. They will work closely with the IT teams (Architect, Admin, and Sustainment, Installers) on requirements and integration. Duties and Responsibilities Success is defined by the ability to understand your path forward, effectively communicate that path, and complete the task inherent to that path in a timely matter Team member in an agile, multi-disciplined IT team for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining a Global Linux environment and ensuring the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of good IT engineering principles and cybersecurity compliance Receive Architect IT design and requirements and put through engineering development and implementation; recommend sound cybersecurity practices in the engineering development Act as a Tier III support; develop automated solutions to enhance administration and sustainment; enforce configuration management Brief direction, updates, and solutions to teammates and customers Document work for the benefit of teammates, users, leadership, and posterity. Travel up to 10% Qualifications Active TS/SCI with the ability to get a Poly Minimum 7+ years of related experience Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field – work experience can be substituted instead of a degree Experience in Linux integration, engineering, and administration Experience in Virtualization technologies and shared storage Experience using automation technologies Experience in Linux administration, including scripting
