Software Test Engineer (Embedded/Firmware) – Modderfontein – Salary R55 000 to R60 000 CTC Car Allowance, Plus, Med Aid, Retirement benefit - Pension/Provident & Group Life, Plus, Fuel Claim monthly for both Private & Business travel A leading technology and manufacturing business is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join its team in Modderfontein . This role focuses on manual and automated testing of embedded/firmware-driven products, ensuring quality and performance against software requirements. Key Responsibilities Create and execute manual + automated test scripts Design test cases to uncover defects and validate feature implementation Perform informal firmware testing alongside development engineers during build stages Plan and manage formal testing cycles, including reporting and documentation Analyse software changes to support accurate test planning Maintain test plans, procedures, and acceptance reports Support continuous improvement in testing practices and team workflows Minimum Requirements BEng / BTech (Electronics) or equivalent engineering qualification 5–10 years of experience in software development/testing (ideally embedded/firmware) Strong understanding of QA principles, test methodologies, and SDLC Confident communicator with cross-functional teams Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Advantageous ISTQB certification (Foundation or Advanced) Exposure to technical training/mentoring or technical project coordination If you're a proactive, structured tester who enjoys working close to hardware and development teams—this ones for you.
