Controls Technician (Allen-Bradley PLC) | Bolingbrook, IL

Our client is seeking a Controls Engineer/Maintenance Technician with hands-on controls and electrical maintenance experience to support automated manufacturing equipment. The technician will troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, Fanuc robots, CNC systems, servo/motion control, and industrial electrical systems. The position is floor-based and focused on breakdown response, advanced troubleshooting, and supporting uptime and reliability initiatives. No Visa Sponsorship | No Relocation Assistance Contract Duration: 12 months | W2 Work Model: Onsite (Only candidates local to the Bolingbrook, IL area will be considered) Requirements: Controls & Automation Support and modify HMI programs. Support troubleshooting of vision systems. Assist with Safety PLC checks and machine safety systems. Troubleshoot servo systems, motion control, and CNC controls. Perform Fanuc robot troubleshooting and basic program adjustments. Troubleshoot and repair Allen-Bradley PLC systems (5+ years required) Diagnose and interpret ladder logic, electrical schematics, and control circuits. Breakdown Response & Uptime Respond quickly to equipment downtime events. Identify root causes of electrical/controls failures. Support production during high-impact downtime. Partner with maintenance techs to restore equipment safely and efficiently. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Document work in CMMS. Perform PM tasks on electrical and automation systems. Identify failure trends and recommend corrective actions. Support PM optimization and reliability improvements. Safety & Compliance Maintain safe troubleshooting practices. Support machine safety system integrity. Follow OSHA, NFPA, arc flash, and LOTO procedures. Qualifications/Must-Haves: High school or equivalent required. Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics. Experience in automated manufacturing environments. 3–5+ years industrial controls or electrical troubleshooting. 5+ years troubleshooting and repairing Allen-Bradley PLC systems. Strong hands-on experience with: Ladder Logic Troubleshooting, HMI Troubleshooting/Modification, Servo & Motion Control Systems, CNC Machinery Controls, Industrial Electrical Systems, Fanuc Robot Troubleshooting. Ability to work in a floor-based, hands-on role responding to breakdowns. Preferred Skills: CMMS experience. Safety PLC troubleshooting. Vision system experience. CNC programming exposure. PLC program integration or modification experience. Technical training in Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related fields.
