Lead Analyst - Trade Compliance

The company is currently undergoing significant expansion in Malaysia, highlighted by a 2025 partnership for a new 700,000 sq. ft. Grade A Free Trade Zone (FTZ) facility in Johor, designed to facilitate duty-free import, storage, and export activities. With a dedicated local workforce, the firm maintains high standards of service through lean deployment and Kaizen activities, ensuring seamless international transportation and compliance for its diverse clientele. Job Description: Manage international freight forwarding companies and customs brokers for various customers. Coordinate all necessary and required documentation for the movement of shipments to and from customers. Ensure prompt and effective customs entry of international cargo while adhering to global regulations. Resolve shipments with complex customs issues by liaising with brokers and carriers. Identify updates and gaps in international shipping guides to ensure all exports and imports flow successfully through customs. Carry out emerging markets research to develop standard operating procedures for successful importation. Perform loss analysis and recommend improvements to minimize compliance-related exceptions. Champion Kaizen and lean deployment activities to improve system effectiveness across the global network. Recognize discrepancies and resolution tactics utilizing RCCA parameters. Job Requirements: At least 5 years of relevant experience in international compliance and trade is required. A Bachelors degree or equivalent in Logistics or Trade Compliance is necessary. Strong knowledge of freight forwarding and customs brokerage operations is essential. A thorough understanding of Malaysian Customs regulations, import/export procedures, and FCZ regulations is required. Expertise in Incoterms 2020, rules of origin for ASEAN Free Trade Agreements, and customs valuation is expected. Working knowledge of international trade regulations such as US EAR or EU dual-use regulations is required. The ability to effectively liaise with government agencies including MITI, MIDA, SIRIM, and Customs is essential. Knowledge of Dangerous Goods as dictated by IATA and IMDG is necessary. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment are required.
