We are seeking a caring, motivated, and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Rainham, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils who require additional help to access learning and reach their full potential. The school has a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing. Staff work closely together to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEN and those requiring additional academic or emotional support. The leadership team is supportive and committed to providing guidance and professional development for support staff. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work across the classroom supporting pupils individually or in small groups. You may work with pupils who have autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), helping them to engage positively with learning and school life. Key Responsibilities Support pupils’ learning within the classroom Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups Assist pupils with literacy, numeracy, and curriculum activities Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour Help implement strategies from EHCPs and support plans Work closely with teachers and the SENCO Encourage independence and confidence in learning Support pupils during transitions, playtimes, and activities Observe and record progress, sharing feedback with staff Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience supporting children in a school or similar setting Be patient, nurturing, and resilient Have a strong interest in SEN and inclusive education Be confident supporting pupils with additional needs Have good communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, reliable, and adaptable Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is highly desirable, but the school welcomes candidates with transferable skills and a genuine desire to support children. The school is based in Rainham, with good transport links and a welcoming community.
