Compliance Manager – Payments & Digital Assets Limassol, Cyprus | Full-Time | Hybrid (initially onsite) Salary: Up to €50,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The Opportunity Our client is a licensed financial services group with a European licence for crypto asset services, operating a dual-platform model: a banking platform for fiat payments and a crypto platform for on-ramps, off-ramps, and digital asset transactions. They serve international digital businesses — with a primary focus on iGaming, digital marketing, software, and technology companies. Founded by professionals from the London financial services industry, they are building their headquarters in Limassol and are at an exciting stage of expansion into additional payment institution and EMI licensing. They operate without politics or corporate hierarchy — results matter, and the people who join now will shape what this business becomes. About the Role This is the first in-house Compliance hire in Cyprus and a pivotal appointment. You will be the senior compliance voice in the business, working directly with the founders, taking ownership of the compliance framework, and building a team around you. We are not looking for a process-follower. We need someone who has been on the service-provider side of payments — someone who understands how fiat flows work in practice, has dealt with PSPs and banking partners, and can tell us what licences we need for which flows before we need them. Strategic thinking and commercial awareness are as important as technical compliance knowledge. Crypto experience is a plus, if you understand payments compliance deeply, you will pick up the digital asset layer quickly. What You Will Do Own the Compliance Framework Design, implement and maintain AML/CTF, KYC, and transaction monitoring frameworks for fiat and digital asset operations Own client onboarding processes and ensure rigorous standards for business client screening (KYB/KYC/EDD) Develop and update compliance policies aligned with evolving EU and international regulatory requirements Drive Licensing & Regulatory Strategy Advise the founders on licensing requirements for new payment flows, products and jurisdictions Monitor regulatory developments across payments (PSD2/PSD3, EMI, PI) and digital assets (MiCA) to keep the business ahead of requirements Build and maintain relationships with banking partners, PSPs, and regulators Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory audits, inquiries and submissions Manage Risk Conduct risk assessments for new products, clients, and payment channels Oversee transaction monitoring and investigate escalations Develop mitigation strategies and internal controls for cross-border financial services operations Build the Team & Culture Coordinate with the existing compliance team and integrate their work into the broader compliance function Lay the foundation for an in-house compliance team in Limassol as the business scales Embed compliance thinking across the organisation through training and cross-functional collaboration Who You Are Essential Hands-on compliance experience within a licensed EMI, Payment Institution, or similarly regulated payments business. Not FX/CFD Brokerage. Deep practical knowledge of fiat payment flows — how money moves, where risk sits, and what regulators expect Familiarity with PSP and banking partner relationships from a compliance and regulatory perspective Strong grounding in AML/CTF, KYB/KYC, and transaction monitoring in a payments context Experience with EU regulatory frameworks (PSD2, AMLD, EMD) and licensing processes A strategic mindset, able to identify what the business needs from a regulatory perspective before problems arise Polished communicator, comfortable engaging with senior banking partners and international counterparts in English 3+ years of relevant compliance experience at Senior Officer or Manager level Advantageous Experience in crypto/digital asset compliance or working within a business that handles both fiat and digital currencies Familiarity with MiCA or other crypto regulatory frameworks iGaming or high-risk merchant compliance exposure CySEC, CAMS, ICA or equivalent professional certification Not a Fit CFD/FX brokerage compliance backgrounds without direct payments or EMI/PI experience Compliance roles limited to client-side iGaming operators without exposure to the payment service provider layer Less than 3 years of relevant experience Profiles focused purely on document collection and onboarding without broader regulatory or strategic involvement What We Offer Salary up to €50,000 per annum, negotiable for the right candidate Direct access to founders and genuine strategic influence from day one The opportunity to build and lead your own compliance team as the business grows Hybrid working model - initial onsite period to establish foundations, with flexibility thereafter Modern office in Limassol with international operations across Europe and the UAE A fast-moving, commercially-minded environment without corporate bureaucracy Professional development support for certifications and industry events Before You Apply Please ensure your application clearly demonstrates hands-on compliance experience within a licensed EMI or Payment Institution.
