Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated GIS Analyst or GIS Specialist to support a variety of asset management and geospatial projects. This position requires frequent travel to client offices throughout Illinois, with occasional travel to Michigan and Ohio for on-site work, client support, and project collaboration. Additional travel may also be required for industry conferences and technical training.
The ideal candidate is self-directed, reliable, and results-driven, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a field-based consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform spatial data analysis, cartography, and GIS database development using ESRI technologies
Configure, implement, and support Trimble and ESRI-based asset management systems (e.g., Cityworks, Trimble Unity)
Provide on-site and remote client support, training, and data collection services
Design and maintain interactive web maps, dashboards, and data applications (ArcGIS Online, Experience Builder, Field Maps, etc.)
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of geospatial datasets
Automate and optimize workflows using Python, ModelBuilder, and/or SQL
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver effective, goal-oriented solutions
Travel Requirements
Frequent in-person work at client offices across Illinois
Occasional travel to Michigan and Ohio for regional projects
Additional travel for conferences, workshops, or vendor training as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field
2–5 years of professional GIS experience, preferably in a consulting or municipal environment
Proficiency with ESRI tools (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, Survey123)
Experience with asset management platforms such as Cityworks or Trimble Unity is strongly preferred
Familiarity with GPS field data collection and data integration
Basic programming/scripting experience (Python, SQL) is a plus
Strong communication and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage schedules, and prioritize tasks effectively
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required
Additional Requirements
As this role involves working with public safety agencies, including Police and Fire Departments, candidates must be able to pass a background check.
