Our team is looking for a Fiber Optic Technician. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting, with a strong focus on quality and precision. This role requires a US-based professional, with a preference for candidates located in Virginia or North Carolina due to project proximity.
Job Requirements
Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer.
Proficient in operating fusion splicing equipment (e.g., Fujikura, Sumitomo) and using fiber optic testing tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs.
Strong understanding of fiber optic infrastructure, including both single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
Relevant certifications highly preferred, including FOA CFOT, BICSI, Corning, CommScope, or equivalent credentials.
Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and splice diagrams.
High attention to detail with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, precision splicing and testing work.
Must be based in the United States; candidates located in Virginia or North Carolina are strongly preferred.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
Responsibilities
Perform fusion splicing, termination, and testing of fiber optic cables in a data center and telecommunications environment.
Prepare and splice a variety of fiber optic cable counts, including 3456F, 1728F, 864F, 288F, 144F, and 96F, using industry-standard tools and techniques.
Conduct OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) testing and accurately interpret results to ensure system performance meets specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve fiber connectivity and performance issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of splicing, testing, and installation activities for project records and reporting.
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Follow all safety protocols, job site rules, and industry regulations to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
