Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and nurturing Lead Preschool Teacher to guide our students through a rich, developmentally appropriate curriculum. You will serve as the classroom leader, mentoring assistant teachers, building strong relationships with families, and delivering meaningful, joyful experiences for children every day.
Key Responsibilities
Create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children ages 2–5
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with developmental milestones and Little Scholars' proprietary curriculum
Observe and document each child’s progress and communicate regularly with families
Lead the classroom team (including assistant teachers and floaters) with clarity, warmth, and professionalism
Maintain open and respectful communication with parents and guardians
Ensure compliance with NYC Department of Health (DOHMH) Article 47 and all regulatory guidelines
Collaborate with the Educational Director and fellow teachers to ensure continuity and excellence across classrooms
Participate in ongoing professional development, team meetings, and school events
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
New York State Teacher Certification (Birth–Grade 2) or in progress preferred
Minimum two years experience as a lead or co-lead teacher in a preschool or childcare setting
Demonstrated understanding of developmentally appropriate practice
Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
Passion for early childhood education and commitment to ongoing learning
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
