The IT Security Analyst is primarily responsible for protecting the company's data, systems, and networks from Cyber threats. This role involves monitoring the IT infrastructure for security breaches, investigating incidents or violations when they occur, and helping to lead the incident response effort. The IT Security Analyst will work closely with the IT team to maintain and enhance the security posture of the United Church Homes, Inc. infrastructure through proactive analysis, vulnerability management, and the administration of security systems.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures for the United Church Homes, Inc. infrastructure, covering areas such as access control, data protection, and incident response.
- Manage and monitor the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platform, analyzing logs from network devices, servers, workstations, and cloud services to detect and respond to security events.
- Administer and maintain the enterprise endpoint protection platform, including anti-malware, host-based intrusion detection, and managed detection and response (MDR) capabilities.
- Administer and maintain security and compliance settings within cloud platforms, such as Microsoft 365.
- Oversee the email security gateway to protect against phishing, spam, and other email-borne threats, and manage the email archival system to ensure compliance with retention policies.
- Conduct regular security and vulnerability assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks within the IT environment.
- Develop, implement, and enforce security configurations and hardening standards for servers, workstations, and network devices, utilizing tools like Active Directory Group Policy.
- Ensure United Church Homes, Inc. systems are configured and maintained in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and industry standards.
- Provide technical expertise and support for security-related projects and initiatives.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate users on IT security best practices.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in IT security is required.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency with computers, relevant software, and general office equipment; Strong working knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems; Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, endpoint security solutions (AV/MDR), email security gateways, and vulnerability assessment tools; Proficiency with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python for automation and analysis is highly desired.
Certifications &
Licenses:
Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GSEC) are a plus. Must obtain and maintain mandatory state and federal requirements for the position. Continuing education in IT-related areas is required.
Other Requirements:
Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including team members, senior management, and end-users. Must possess a strong technical background in network and systems security. Must have strong project management skills to ensure projects are complete on time and within budget.
Valid Driver’s License
