Job Overview:
We are currently in search of a meticulous and dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to become an integral part of our dynamic healthcare team. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use in patient procedures. Our ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong communication abilities, and thrives in a fast-paced medical setting. Please note that this position requires full-time travel.
Key Duties:
- Operate sterilization machinery following strict guidelines from manufacturers and adhere to our institution's protocols.
- Perform thorough cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments using proper agents and methods.
- Examine medical equipment for any signs of damage or wear; promptly report issues to management.
- Organize supplies for efficient sterilization utilizing correct wrapping techniques and materials.
- Label sterile items with dates for tracking usage; confirm sterility standards have been achieved before approval for use.
- Engage actively in infection prevention initiatives by managing the sterile supply chain effectively.
- Keep precise documentation related to the sterilization cycles as well as outcomes from quality control tests.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols when handling potentially contaminated materials.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Certification from an accredited Central Service or Sterile Processing program is mandatory.
- At least one year's experience within the field preferred but not essential if certified recently
-Strong verbal communication skills coupled with solid organizational capabilities are expected
-Keen attention to detail with capability flourish under pressure
-Proven analytical skills with sound judgment needed for effective problem-solving
-A collaborative spirit ideal suited towards teamwork environments
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to lift objects weighing up 50 pounds without assistance
-Frequent standing over prolonged periods is necessary
-Should be comfortable performing motions such as bending, stooping kneeling regularly
Work Environment Conditions:
-Potential exposure infectious diseases within hospital settings;
-Flexibility regarding shifts may include early mornings evenings weekends when required;
-Occasionally asked perform extra hours including on-call responsibilities as needed by facility demands
