Job Description:
Supplier Management & Sourcing:
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify mechanical/component suppliers
- Maintain supplier performance and resolve service issues
- Support supplier audits and ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., RoHS, REACH)
- Collaborate on material shortage resolution and procurement transitions
NPI & Project Support:
- Handle sourcing and procurement for NPI builds (prototype to pilot phase)
- Ensure timely delivery and inventory control during NPI
- Engage suppliers early and consolidate quotes
Technical & Drawing Evaluation:
- Review and interpret customer mechanical drawings
- Align supplier understanding with internal engineering and quality standards
Global Collaboration:
- Coordinate with global sourcing teams on strategies and supplier performance
- Participate in supplier reviews to drive improvement
- Support cost-down initiatives (e.g., alternate suppliers or materials)
Quotation & Cost Analysis:
- Request, compare, and negotiate supplier quotations
- Perform cost benchmarking and should-cost analysis
- Assist in RFQ pricing for new projects
Reporting & KPI Management:
- Set and track sourcing KPIs; generate reports and trend analysis
- Propose actions to meet annual sourcing targets
- Perform ad hoc tasks assigned by management
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sourcing Mechanical Engineering, preferably in the EMS
industry. - Strong knowledge of mechanical categories (e.g., metal, plastic, die-casting, stamping) and
sourcing channels. - Good understanding and rich knowledge of the mechanical category and sourcing channels.
- Proven strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with an established mechanical supplier base in Malaysia.
- Skilled in supplier negotiation, cost breakdown analysis, and price benchmarking.
- Able to work independently and coordinate with global and cross-functional teams.
- Proactive, self-driven, and excellent at troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both verbal and written.
