Whole School Learning Support Coordinator
Location: Rome, Italy

Our client school is a respected international day school in Rome, offering the full IB continuum from Early Years to the Diploma Programme. The school is known for academic excellence, strong community values, and a warm, inclusive environment where students are supported to thrive both personally and academically.

We are now seeking a Whole School Learning Support Coordinator to lead and coordinate learning support across the Early Years, Primary, and Secondary sections. The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for inclusive education, with strong expertise in supporting students with diverse learning needs and a solid understanding of IB curriculum frameworks.

This key role involves working closely with staff, families, external specialists, and leadership teams to ensure inclusive practices are consistently implemented and every student receives the support they need.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead the planning and evaluation of the school-wide Learning Support programme.

  • Oversee identification and support for students with learning needs.

  • Coordinate Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and ensure they are regularly reviewed.

  • Liaise with parents, teaching teams, and external professionals.

  • Work with IB Coordinators to ensure access arrangements align with IB policies.

Assessment & Intervention

  • Conduct assessments and interpret external evaluation reports.

  • Monitor student progress and adapt interventions as needed.

  • Maintain clear, confidential documentation of student support.

  • Promote evidence-based strategies in literacy, numeracy, and executive functioning.

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Support teachers with differentiation and inclusive practices.

  • Provide professional development for staff on inclusion and assessment.

  • Ensure inclusive strategies are embedded across all subject areas.

Compliance & Policy

  • Manage IB access arrangements for MYP and DP assessments.

  • Stay informed of inclusive assessment policies and local education regulations.

  • Support the development and implementation of inclusive school policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Masters degree in Special Education or related field.

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education or Learning Support.

  • Minimum 4 years experience in a similar role, ideally with coordination responsibilities.

  • Experience supporting students with diagnoses such as dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD.

  • Strong understanding of ILPs, differentiation, and inclusive pedagogy.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme and access arrangements.

Preferred:

  • Experience in PYP settings.

  • Knowledge of Italian Special Education law and Scuola Paritaria framework.

  • Proficiency in Italian.

  • International school experience.
