Fire Alarm Design Specialist I
Full-Time | Phoenix, AZ (Remote Option Available)
Salary Range: $65,000 $95,000 Annually
Position Summary
We are seeking a Fire Alarm Design Specialist I to join our team. This position involves designing fire alarm, sprinkler, and security systems for various construction projects. The role supports field operations and engineering teams by creating and managing accurate AutoCAD packages and coordinating design efforts throughout different project phases.
Responsibilities

Lead design efforts for construction projects focused on fire alarm, sprinkler, and security systems
Collaborate closely with field operations and engineering staff
Create detailed design documents in AutoCAD, including floor plans, riser diagrams, panel layouts, and system schematics
Review scopes of work, specifications, and applicable fire life safety codes to ensure compliance
Update design documents to reflect changes in the field and create as-built drawings
Communicate clearly with internal teams and external clients to coordinate design revisions and approvals
Produce printed deliverables using in-house resources
Take on tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager and design according to established standards and procedures
Perform other duties as needed
Basic Qualifications

High school diploma
Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm, sprinkler, and security system design
Proficiency with AutoCAD, particularly with 2D floor plans, blocks, external references, and page setups
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe software
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with NFPA 72 standards
Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree or technical diploma in a related field
3+ years of experience in fire alarm systems
Experience with AutoCAD, BIM360, Revit, and BlueBeam Studio
Understanding of how fire alarm systems interface with other building systems
Certifications such as NICET or equivalent in the special systems industry
Professional, team-oriented demeanor
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Must be physically capable of kneeling, stooping, and crawling
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record per company policy
