About the Role:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging Chemistry lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, following relevant examination specifications, and adapting to the needs of students joining mid-year by providing differentiated learning materials and flexible lesson plans.
  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Chemistry examinations, ensuring they have a strong understanding of assessment criteria and chemical methodologies, and providing targeted support for those joining mid-year by focusing on key concepts and exam techniques..
  • Foster a love of chemistry in students, encouraging them to develop their analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and to appreciate the impact of chemistry on society.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment, and to contribute to the wider academic and extracurricular life of the school, including participation in science clubs and chemistry competitions, with a focus on team integration and collaboration.
  • Organize and lead laboratory experiments, chemical demonstrations, and science-related activities, promoting hands-on learning and scientific inquiry, and providing opportunities for students to showcase their work.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry, including chemical theories and laboratory techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including A-Level.
  • Experience in preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Chemistry examinations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and practical skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities, including those joining mid-year.
  • A passion for chemistry and a commitment to fostering scientific inquiry and practical skills.
  • Ability to organize and lead laboratory experiments and chemical demonstrations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and to quickly integrate into a school environment mid-year.
