Teacher of Religious Studies - OFSTED Outstanding School - Westminster

Are you a passionate and engaging Teacher of Religious Studies with a desire to explore the big questions of life and faith with young people? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our high-achieving RS department in an outstanding secondary school in Westminster. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in September 2025.

About the Religious Studies Department:

The Religious Studies department is a collaborative and reflective team with a shared commitment to fostering students' spiritual growth, ethical awareness, and understanding of religious diversity. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that explores a range of religious and philosophical traditions, promoting dialogue and critical thinking. We encourage students to develop their own perspectives on faith and belief and to contribute to respectful discussions on ethical issues.

About the Role:

  • Teach Religious Studies across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including discussions, debates, guest speakers, and visits to places of worship, to bring RS to life for students.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our RS curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
  • Foster an appreciation of different religions and worldviews in students, encouraging them to develop their own beliefs and values in a respectful and tolerant manner.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Religious Studies education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Religious Studies.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching RS and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for RE.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
