English Teacher Position in Haringey

We are seeking an exceptional and passionate English Teacher to join a prestigious all-girls independent school in Haringey. This full-time, permanent position, with an ASAP start, offers a unique opportunity to cultivate a profound love for literature and language in bright and motivated young women.

About the Role:

As an English Teacher, you will be instrumental in delivering a dynamic and comprehensive English curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will create an engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking, creative expression, and a deep appreciation for the power of the written word.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver stimulating English lessons that align with the school's rigorous academic standards.
  • Foster a love of reading and writing, encouraging students to explore diverse literary texts and develop their own creative voices.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and enhance student engagement.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through various methods, providing constructive feedback and individualised support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the English curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant, challenging, and inspiring.
  • Organise and participate in extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, writing workshops, and theatre visits.
  • Contribute to the school's vibrant literary culture by participating in school events and initiatives.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A genuine passion for English literature and language, with a deep understanding of literary analysis and creative writing techniques.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) and a strong academic background in English literature or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching English at secondary level, ideally within an independent school setting.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that empowers young women.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop their critical thinking, analytical, and creative writing skills.
