About the Design and Technology Department:

About the Role:

  • Teach Product Design across Key Stages 4 and 5, inspiring and challenging students to deepen their understanding of design principles, manufacturing processes, and sustainable design practices.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize a range of teaching methods and resources, including design projects, CAD/CAM software, and industry partnerships, to bring Product Design to life for students.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Product Design curriculum remains relevant, challenging, and engaging.
  • Foster a love of Product Design in students, encouraging them to explore the design process, develop their technical skills, and consider further studies or careers in design and engineering.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive, supportive, and stimulating learning environment where students thrive.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice, keep abreast of the latest developments in Product Design education, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Design and Technology department.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Product Design, with a strong understanding of design principles, manufacturing processes, and sustainable design practices.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Product Design and a commitment to student success, with a proven track record of engaging and inspiring students.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Is confident in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported to achieve their best.
  • Has experience with a variety of CAD/CAM software and design tools and technologies.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice, contributing to the continuous improvement of their teaching skills and the department as a whole.
