Are you a passionate and innovative Teacher of Product Design with a desire to inspire students to design, create, and innovate? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our thriving Design & Technology department in a Church of England secondary school in Hillingdon.

About the D&T Department:

The Design & Technology department is a collaborative and supportive team with a shared passion for fostering students' creativity, innovation, and practical skills. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of D&T specialisms, including product design, resistant materials, electronics, and textiles. We have well-equipped workshops and studios with access to the latest technologies and resources, including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CAD/CAM software.

About the Role:

  • Teach Product Design across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Guide and support students in developing their design skills, from concept generation and prototyping to manufacturing and evaluation.
  • Encourage students to apply their knowledge of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes to create innovative and functional products.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Product Design curriculum remains relevant, challenging, and engaging.
  • Foster a love of Design & Technology in students, encouraging them to explore their creativity, develop their practical skills, and become innovative problem-solvers.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Product Design and D&T education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Product Design and a passion for design and innovation.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Product Design and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for D&T and relevant examination specifications.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
