About the Music Department:

The Music department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for fostering a love of music in our students. We offer a comprehensive and enriching curriculum that covers a wide range of musical styles and traditions, from classical to contemporary. We encourage students to participate in choirs, orchestras, bands, and chamber groups, and we provide opportunities for solo performances and participation in music festivals and competitions.

About the Role:

  • Teach Music across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, inspiring and challenging students to deepen their understanding of musical theory, history, and performance practice.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Support students in preparing for their GCSE and A Level Music examinations, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to succeed.
  • Guide students in composing their own music, developing their creative and technical abilities.
  • Lead and direct ensembles, such as choirs, orchestras, and bands, providing students with opportunities to perform and collaborate.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Music curriculum remains relevant, engaging, and rigorous.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Music education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Possesses a degree in Music or a related field.
  • Demonstrates a passion for music education and a commitment to student success.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Music and relevant examination specifications.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
