About the Psychology Department:

The Psychology department is a collaborative and supportive team with a shared passion for exploring the complexities of human behaviour and mental processes. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from biological psychology and cognitive psychology to social psychology and developmental psychology. We encourage students to develop their critical thinking skills, research abilities, and understanding of the applications of psychology in the real world.

About the Role:

  • Teach Psychology at A Level, inspiring and challenging students to deepen their understanding of psychological concepts, theories, and research methods.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities within a large classroom setting.
  • Support students in preparing for their A Level Psychology examinations, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to succeed.
  • Guide students in conducting independent research and completing challenging coursework, fostering their critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Psychology curriculum remains relevant, engaging, and rigorous.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Psychology education.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and enrichment programs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Psychology.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Psychology and a commitment to student success in a large comprehensive setting.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with the ability to manage a classroom effectively and build positive relationships with a diverse student body.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the A Level Psychology specifications and assessment requirements.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
