About the Role:
- Teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at GCSE and A Level depending on experience and interest.
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students are challenged and supported to make excellent progress in English.
- Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including drama, debates, creative writing workshops, and technology, to bring English to life for students and foster a love of reading and writing.
- Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys, with a focus on encouraging girls' confidence in their abilities.
- Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our English curriculum remains relevant and challenging for our students.
- Foster a love of English in students, encouraging them to explore their creativity, develop their communication skills, and become confident and articulate young women.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment, with a particular focus on supporting the unique needs and learning styles of girls.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in English education.
- Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, such as debating clubs, creative writing groups, and school productions, providing opportunities for students to showcase their talents and develop their skills.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Possesses excellent subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature, with a strong understanding of literary analysis and writing conventions.
- Demonstrates a passion for teaching English and a commitment to student success, with a proven track record of engaging and inspiring students, particularly girls.
- Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment.
- Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for English and relevant examination specifications.
- Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice, contributing to the continuous improvement of their teaching skills and the department as a whole.
