What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong understanding of Design and Technology principles and a commitment to providing high-quality, hands-on learning experiences. The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified teacher (holding QTS or equivalent).
  • Experienced in teaching Design and Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Experience in teaching a specific area of DT (e.g., Resistant Materials, Product Design, Textiles, Food Technology, Graphics) is desirable. 
  • Passionate about Design and Technology and able to inspire students of all abilities.
  • An excellent classroom practitioner with strong behaviour management skills.
  • Committed to raising student achievement and fostering practical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A collaborative team player who is willing to contribute to the wider school community.
  • Dedicated to their own professional development and keeping up-to-date with technological advancements.
  • A creative Design and Technology Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging Design and Technology lessons across the relevant Key Stages.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including those with SEND.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback, both written and practical.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress.
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive workshop/classroom environment that promotes creativity, innovation, and practical skills development.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the Design and Technology department and across the school.
  • Contribute to the development of the Design and Technology curriculum and resources.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of tools, equipment, and materials, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
