About the Psychology Department:

The Psychology department is a collaborative and enthusiastic team dedicated to providing students with a comprehensive understanding of psychological principles. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from cognitive psychology and social psychology to developmental psychology and research methods. We aim to equip students with the critical thinking skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their academic and personal lives.

About the Role:

  • Teach Psychology across Key Stages 4 and 5, following the AQA specification.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including case studies, research articles, and interactive activities, to bring Psychology to life for students.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Psychology curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
  • Foster a love of Psychology in students, encouraging them to explore the complexities of human behaviour and develop their analytical skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Psychology education.
  • Contribute to the pastoral well being of the students.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Psychology.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Psychology and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the AQA specification for Psychology.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
  • ECTs are encouraged to apply, with appropriate support and mentoring provided.
