About the Geography Department:
The Geography department is a collaborative and passionate team with a shared commitment to fostering students' understanding of the world's diverse landscapes, cultures, and environments. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of geographical topics, from physical processes and environmental challenges to human geography and globalisation.
About the Role:
- Teach Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on experience and interest.
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
- Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including fieldwork, maps, GIS, and multimedia presentations, to bring Geography to life for students.
- Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
- Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Geography curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
- Foster a love of Geography in students, encouraging them to explore the world around them and develop their understanding of global issues.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Geography education.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS or equivalent.
- Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Geography.
- Demonstrates a passion for teaching Geography and a commitment to student success.
- Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Geography and relevant examination specifications.
- Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
- Is supportive of the school's Christian ethos and values.
