Are you a passionate and innovative Teacher of Resistant Materials with a desire to inspire students to design, create, and innovate using resistant materials? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our thriving D&T department in a forward-thinking academy in Hillingdon.

About the D&T Department:

The Design & Technology department is a collaborative and inspiring team with a shared commitment to fostering students' creativity, innovation, and practical skills. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of D&T specialisms, including resistant materials, product design, electronics, and textiles. We have well-equipped workshops and studios with access to the latest technologies and resources.

About the Role:

  • Teach Resistant Materials across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at GCSE and A Level depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Guide and support students in using a range of tools, equipment, and materials to design and create products.
  • Encourage students to apply their knowledge of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes to solve real-world problems.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Resistant Materials curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
  • Foster a love of Design & Technology in students, encouraging them to explore their creativity, develop their practical skills, and become innovative problem-solvers.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in D&T education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Resistant Materials.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching D&T and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for D&T.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
