Music Teacher - Dedicated & Organised Secondary School - Hounslow

Share your passion for music and inspire the next generation of musicians! We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Music to join our thriving Music department in a music-focused academy in Hounslow. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in April 2025.

About the Music Department:

The Music department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared commitment to fostering students' musicality and creativity. We offer a rich and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of musical styles and traditions, from classical to contemporary. We encourage students to develop their musical skills through instrumental lessons, ensemble rehearsals, and performances.

About the Role:

  • Teach Music across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching A Level Music depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including practical activities, listening exercises, and composition workshops, to bring Music to life for students.
  • Lead and direct school ensembles, such as choirs, bands, and orchestras.
  • Organise and participate in school concerts and performances, providing students with opportunities to showcase their musical talents.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Music curriculum remains relevant and inspiring.
  • Foster a love of Music in students, encouraging them to explore different musical genres and develop their own musical voice.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Music education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Music.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Music and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Music.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
