Teacher of Biology - Outstanding Girls' School in West London

Are you a passionate Biology Teacher with a desire to inspire young women to pursue careers in science? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Biology to join our high-achieving department in an outstanding girls' school in West London. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in April 2025.

About the Biology Department:

The Biology department is a dynamic and collaborative team with a shared passion for exploring the living world. We offer a stimulating and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, from cell biology to ecology. We encourage students to develop their practical skills through experiments and dissections, and we provide access to well-equipped laboratories and resources.

About the Role:

  • Teach Biology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching A Level Biology depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and resources, including demonstrations, experiments, and ICT, to bring Biology to life for students.
  • Assess student progress, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our Biology curriculum remains relevant and challenging.
  • Foster a love of Biology in students, encouraging them to explore the natural world and develop their scientific understanding.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in Biology education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in Biology.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching Biology and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for Biology.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
