An exciting and dynamic Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wandsworth is seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths Teacher to join their team from April 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students who have faced challenges in mainstream education and help them rediscover their love for learning through innovative and engaging maths lessons.
Role Highlights:
- Full-time, permanent position at a well-established PRU in Wandsworth
- Teach Maths to secondary-aged students who may have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs or have been excluded from mainstream education
- Develop and deliver individualized maths lessons, ensuring all students can access and engage with the curriculum
- Provide support and guidance to students who face barriers to learning, helping them achieve personal and academic success
- Work closely with SEN staff, therapists, and other colleagues to deliver a holistic approach to student development
- Assess student progress, adapting teaching methods and providing tailored interventions to meet each student’s needs
- Foster a positive learning environment that promotes resilience, confidence, and motivation in students
Experience & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Maths at secondary level, ideally in a PRU, SEN, or alternative education setting
- A patient and empathetic approach to teaching students with SEMH or behavioural challenges
- Strong knowledge of the Maths curriculum and the ability to adapt it to meet the needs of individual learners
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- A passion for helping students re-engage with education and succeed academically
- Enhanced DBS check required
