Founding AI Engineer (Engineering Productivity) Location: San Francisco, CA (Onsite, 5 days/week) Role Overview Founding AI Engineer responsible for building core AI systems that analyze and improve engineering team productivity. This is a ground-floor role with full ownership of AI systems, working directly with founders to define product direction and technical architecture. Responsibilities Design and build AI systems that analyze how engineering teams work, focusing on productivity, collaboration, and output quality Develop systems that generate actionable insights for engineering teams without relying on vanity metrics Own full AI development lifecycle from system design through production deployment and iteration Establish processes and standards to accelerate future AI feature development Work directly with founders to translate customer needs into shipped AI features Build scalable systems that improve engineering outcomes across large user bases Continuously iterate based on real customer feedback and product usage Requirements Strong engineering fundamentals with ability to solve complex technical problems independently Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments Commitment to continuous improvement and growth as an engineer Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders Empathy for end users and ability to build user-centered AI products
