Accountant III

ROLE OVERVIEW: A leading organization is seeking an Accountant III to support regulated revenue accounting functions. This role is responsible for managing complex accounting activities, maintaining ledger accuracy, and supporting financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work with minimal direction while also mentoring junior team members. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance, improving processes, and supporting leadership decision-making. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting Support SEC and regulatory reporting requirements Prepare and maintain schedules, reports, and financial analyses for internal and external stakeholders Provide documentation and support for audit processes, including clear explanations of financial data Analyze large volumes of financial data, identify issues, and resolve discrepancies Participate in projects and process improvements with limited oversight Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced accounting staff Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and process enhancements Perform additional duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with a strong accounting focus Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, preferably within the energy industry Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial analysis skills Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with US GAAP Experience in revenue accounting CPA certification Experience working in a FERC-regulated environment RK
