Commercial Roofing & Sheet Metal Sales Estimator | Remote (McHenry, IL Hybrid) Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Sales Estimator with a strong background in commercial roofing, waterproofing, and sheet metal projects. This role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates, pursuing new business opportunities, and managing bids for large-scale commercial projects. While primarily remote, the candidate must be willing to visit our McHenry, IL office at least once per month and possibly more often. Key Responsibilities: Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to develop competitive roofing and sheet metal estimates . Conduct on-site inspections to assess project scope, materials, labor, and timelines. Prepare cost calculations using estimating software for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors. Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, property managers, and building owners . Respond to RFQs/RFPs, present proposals professionally, and negotiate contracts with clients. Collaborate with project management teams to ensure smooth transitions from estimate to execution. Monitor industry trends, competitor pricing, and market conditions to refine the estimating strategy. Qualifications: 5–10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating and sales , preferably in roofing or architectural metal. Proven experience bidding on large-scale, multi-million-dollar commercial projects . Strong knowledge of TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up roofing, and metal panel systems . Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents . Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills . Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
