Director of Product Design

The Director of Product Design is responsible for leading the vision, strategy, and execution of user-centered design across the organization's product portfolio. This role oversees design teams, drives innovation, and ensures the delivery of intuitive, high-quality user experiences that align with business objectives and customer needs. The ideal candidate is a strategic design leader with a strong background in product design, user experience, and team development, capable of influencing product direction at an executive level. Key Responsibilities Define and execute the overall product design vision, strategy, and roadmap Lead and mentor a team of product designers, UX/UI specialists, and researchers Establish and maintain design standards, systems, and best practices Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and marketing teams Drive user-centered design processes, including research, prototyping, and usability testing Ensure consistency and quality across all digital products and platforms Advocate for user experience and design excellence at the leadership level Oversee design reviews, feedback cycles, and continuous improvement initiatives Integrate data and user insights into design decisions Manage design resources, budgets, and timelines effectively Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive benchmarks Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field required Master's degree or advanced certifications in UX/UI or design leadership preferred Experience 10+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or related fields 5+ years of leadership experience managing design teams Proven track record of delivering successful digital products and scalable design systems Skills and Competencies Strong expertise in user experience (UX), user interface (UI), and interaction design Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD Deep understanding of design systems, accessibility standards, and usability principles Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities Ability to balance creative vision with business and technical constraints Experience working in agile or product-driven environments Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for design decisions Compensation Annual Salary Range: $160,000 to $220,000 USD, depending on experience, Certification, and qualification Executive-level bonus structure and potential equity or stock options Benefits Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching Generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and holidays Flexible work arrangements including remote or hybrid options Executive wellness and leadership development programs Professional development and conference sponsorships Life and disability insurance coverage Employee stock purchase plan or equity participation Work Environment This role may be performed in a remote, hybrid based setting within the United States.
