Job Title: Laboratory Technician – Asphalt & Aggregate Testing Company: Austability Location: Tinian, CNMI, USA (On-site – Remote Island Project) Type: Full-Time (Project-Based, 3–5+ Year Engagement) Compensation: $97,200 annually + paid housing, meals, and flights About Austability Austability is a global engineering and infrastructure solutions firm specializing in high-performance materials, construction quality assurance, and large-scale project delivery. About the Role As a Laboratory Technician – Asphalt & Aggregate Testing, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of materials used in a high-priority DoD-funded runway and base construction project. Working across both laboratory and field environments, you will perform testing, analysis, and reporting to ensure all materials meet UFGS specifications, ASTM/AASHTO standards, and project mix designs. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician who thrives in high-volume production environments and is interested in full lifecycle exposure to asphalt and aggregate operations. Key Responsibilities Sampling & Field Testing Collect material samples including aggregates, RAP, HMA, and bitumen Perform field testing including temperature checks, moisture content, and visual inspections Ensure proper labeling and maintain chain-of-custody procedures Laboratory Testing Conduct QC/QA testing including gradation, Rice, Marshall, and ignition oven testing Perform calculations including air voids, VMA, and VFA Maintain accuracy and consistency across all test procedures Documentation & Reporting Record and track all test data in accordance with project requirements Prepare quality control reports and summaries Maintain equipment calibration logs and testing records Quality & Compliance Monitor production trends and identify potential quality issues Support mix design verification processes Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reviews Ensure adherence to ASTM, AASHTO, and UFGS standards Requirements 2–5+ years of experience in asphalt and/or aggregate laboratory testing Strong knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO testing methods Experience working with hot mix asphalt (HMA) production preferred Ability to work in both field and laboratory environments Preferred Certifications: ACI Grade I NICET Level II OSHA 10 First Aid/CPR What We Offer Competitive salary of $97,200 annually Full project support package including: Housing provided Transportation provided Meals provided (3x daily) Flights covered (start and end of assignment) Opportunity to work on a high-visibility DoD infrastructure project Exposure to full asphalt production lifecycle and advanced materials testing Long-term project stability (3–5+ years) 60-hour work weeks with strong earning consistency
