Location: Temecula, CA (Onsite) Compensation: Up to $185,000 base Start Date: ASAP Overview Our client is seeking a Senior Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead survey operations across public and private sector projects. This role is highly leadership-focused and centered on execution — ensuring survey deliverables are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. The Senior PLS will take ownership of the Inland Empire survey function, overseeing both field and office teams while maintaining strong collaboration with engineering teams and clients. This is not a purely technical role. The ideal candidate will be: Proactive and highly organized Comfortable leading teams and driving accountability Experienced working in fast-paced, multi-project environments Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the survey department, including supervision of field and office staff Oversee project delivery, ensuring quality control and regulatory compliance Manage scheduling, resource allocation, and department backlog Serve as Surveyor in Responsible Charge; review, sign, and seal deliverables Coordinate with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders Drive accountability and ensure projects remain on track Support business development efforts including proposals and client engagement Represent the organization in professional associations and industry groups What We're Looking For 8+ years of land surveying experience Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (required) Strong knowledge of: ALTA/NSPS standards Subdivision Map Act Local regulations Proven leadership experience managing teams and client relationships Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and field-to-finish survey workflows Strong communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively Comfortable working in fast-paced, multi-project environments Ideal Background Experience working on public and private sector land surveying projects Background in civil engineering or surveying firms Experience leading teams or stepping into a leadership role Exposure to client-facing project delivery and business development Ability to operate independently while maintaining strong communication What Success Looks Like Effectively leads and scales survey operations in a growing region Maintains high-quality, compliant survey deliverables across projects Builds strong relationships with internal teams and external clients Keeps projects on track through proactive planning and issue resolution Drives accountability and operational efficiency across the department
