Facilities Technician

Role Overview: The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting all aspects of facility operations, including building systems, utilities, and equipment. This role oversees the operation of two high-pressure steam boilers, performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections, and ensures regulatory compliance across all systems. The technician works closely with internal departments, vendors, and contractors to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive facility that supports daily manufacturing operations. Schedule: Standard Monday–Friday day shift, with flexibility to support overtime, early starts, or occasional weekend coverage as needed to meet operational requirements. Job Requirements: Valid New Jersey Black Seal High-Pressure Boiler License (required). 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience; degree not required. Proven experience in high-pressure boiler operation, water treatment, and mechanical system maintenance, preferably in an industrial environment. Strong understanding of building systems, safety regulations, and maintenance best practices. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn facility management software. Ability to work flexible hours and respond to facility emergencies as needed. Reliable, self-motivated, and adaptable to a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. Comfortable working in varying temperatures and industrial conditions. Ability to climb ladders, access confined spaces, and perform manual tasks safely Key Responsibilities: Boiler Operation: Operate and oversee two high-pressure boilers, including startup, shutdown, daily checks, water treatment, and vendor coordination. Wastewater System Management: Oversee wastewater treatment, including weekly calibration, pH monitoring, and sample management. Facility Repairs: Perform repairs or coordinate with vendors for utility systems, including fire suppression, electrical, plumbing, solar, and HVAC. HVAC Maintenance: Manage and execute the HVAC filter replacement schedule and maintain system efficiency. Safety Inspections: Conduct and document regular safety inspections, including stormwater, fire systems, PPE, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and fall protection. Confined Space Entry: Serve as an active member of the confined space entry team (training provided if required). Lockout/Tagout Compliance: Maintain supplies and ensure compliance with safety standards across all facility operations. Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and contractors to complete maintenance projects on schedule. Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate inspection and maintenance documentation in compliance with company standards. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
